The Emperor's New Clicks: Unmasking Attribution Fraud
February 06, 2025 03:00 PM Europe/Copenhagen
Nothing sparks an argument quite like mentioning marketing attribution. As we kick off 2025, data-informed companies agree that attribution is about understanding what truly works and where to most efficiently spend - or save -the next dollar.
But what if part of your paid attribution data turned out to be a proven fraud scam, stealing your money? For most companies, it is!
''There's ad fraud and then there's attribution fraud. Ad fraud is simply ads being shown to fake users - bots - and not humans. Attribution fraud is where a particular type of ad or a particular adtech vendor falsely claims credit for conversions/sales it did not cause.'', as Ad Fraud Researcher, Dr Augustin Fou stated in his recent LinkedIn Article.
Data Leaders – Season 2 Kickoff
In this season kickoff of Data Leaders, Dr Augustine Fou joins Kristian Simonsen to discuss attribution fraud - how to detect it - and what good data governance means for taking ownership. Learn how to avoid wasting marketing budgets on ad- and attribution fraud as a whole.
It's the 2025 version of the Hans Christian Andersen Fairytale about the emperor's new clothes, but this time around you will get the knowledge to call out attribution- and ads fraud, and know how owning the data input can heavily impact correct attribution and data trust. What's not to like?
Expect questions like:
What types of ads- and attribution fraud are the most common?
What are the key indicators of fraud, how can we detect it effectively, and what actions should we take to address it?
How can we prepare for 2025 to avoid fraud and accurately identify what really works?
As always, the live session will include time for audience questions. Sign up now to secure your spot!
